Discover the Healing Power of Crystals

Have you ever been intrigued by the mysterious power of crystals? Gems and crystals have long been known to have positive effects on our spiritual, psychological, emotional and even physical well-being. If you’d like to learn to connect with crystals and enrich your life then Soozi Holbech’s The Power of Gems and Crystals is the perfect place to start. Here Soozi explains how to incorporate crystals into your meditation practice.

Meditating with crystals

For meditation it is advisable to hold the crystal in the left hand. This awakens the part of your mind that enjoys the expansion of consciousness that meditation brings. You will find it much easier if you take some deep breaths, and tense and relax your muscles first. This helps the body to release tension and co-operate with, rather than fight against, you. Unless you can sit cross- legged in a yoga position it is best to sit in a chair with your feet on the ground, or lie down. When I started learning to meditate I thought I had to sit cross-legged. I ached, twitched, got cramp and nearly went crazy with discomfort. I now believe that it is vital to be comfortable.

You may like to light a candle to create a peaceful atmosphere around you. It is better at the beginning to practise being still and relaxed for 5–10 minutes, or as long as you feel comfortable, rather than trying complicated techniques. Imagining or remembering a place in which you’ve been happy is a good place to start and automatically relaxes the body. There are many forms of meditation but they all require that the mind be still. Once you are able to do this, experiment to find the type of meditation that suits you best. Each time you use the crystal it will store the memory of the meditation and help to trigger your mind more quickly into this still space.

Another crystal meditation can be done by holding the crystal in both hands. Bring the crystal to the level of the heart, look at it, breathe with it, align with it. Then close your eyes and gently touch the centre of your forehead with the crystal. Keep it there for a moment or two then, with your eyes closed, gently place the crystal in front of you or on your lap. Your hands should be relaxed at your side or in your lap. Now see the crystal again in your mind’s eye, imagine it, remember it. Then visualize your consciousness entering the crystal and imagine being inside it for as long as you wish. When you feel ready to withdraw from the crystal do it gently, gradually and slowly open your eyes. You will feel light, renewed, revitalized. It is wiser not to get up at once but to give yourself a few minutes to absorb the experience.

Despite the many uses to which crystals can be put, they are not a substitute for what you can do with your own creativity and power. Neither are crystals a substitute for orthodox medical treatment, proper breathing and diet, exercise and healthy living generally. They assist by focussing and amplifying what we can do with our minds, energies and willpower. Our bodies are controlled and regulated by different energies pulsating through them. Crystals are tools to work with and influence these energies. In addition, they create a harmonious environment where mind and feeling, body and spirit function better.
